The ruckus that started over the Iftar party in BHU’s Women’s College in Varanasi is not taking its name to stop. Iftar party was organized in Mahila Mahavidyalaya on Wednesday. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain also participated in it. The students demonstrated for this. On the other hand, Hanuman Chalisa was also recited in front of the university opposing this Iftar event.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Activists of the BHU unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have opened a front against Sudhir Jain’s Rosa Iftar. He also raised slogans of Jai Hanuman by reciting Hanuman Chalisa in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence. During this, the students said that an iftar party can be held in the campus, then why not recite Hanuman Chalisa.
The protesting ABVP workers said that a new tradition has been started in the campus. Efforts are being made to spoil the atmosphere by writing casteism and anti-India slogans. He said that they all strongly oppose this act. Along with this, these people also said that BHU will not be allowed to become AMU and JNU.
Meanwhile, BHU has issued a clarification saying that Vice-Chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain did not organize Iftar. Banaras Hindu University issued a clarification saying that there should be no confusion or misinformation regarding two things. The first is that Iftar was not organized by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sudhir K Jain. Rather students and teachers invited him and he participated as the head of the BHU fraternity. The second reason was also told that the tradition of organizing Iftar in BHU is more than 2 decades old.
It is said that the University follows Madan Mohan Malaviya’s idea of inclusive and adopting all and his values and principles are at the core of BHU’s functioning as an institution. BHU’s attempt to disturb the peace and the academic environment is unacceptable and condemnable. So the performance of the students is not good. In a tweet, Chander Shekhar Gwari, assistant information and public relations officer of the university, alleged that a lot of misinformation is being spread regarding the entire matter.
