After a thumping majority in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP has once again waved the flag of victory. Along with the majority in the assembly, now the BJP has also got a majority in the Legislative Council. This is happening in the state after 40 years when a party has got a thumping majority in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. Earlier in 1982, Congress got a majority in both the houses. In the election held on April 9 on 27 out of 36 seats, BJP won 24 seats. Independent candidates have won three seats.
