Tejinder Bagga was arrested on Friday by the Punjab police after a dramatic showdown involving two parties and a police force across three states. Bagga is back home and the Delhi court has granted him police security as Bagga alleges that his detention by the Punjab police was illegal. Tejinder is the spokesperson of BJP Delhi, he was arrested from his home in Janakpuri in Delhi. The Punjab Police on Friday arrested Bagga from his home in Delhi’s Janakpuri, but the Delhi Police brought him back from Haryana, saying that the Punjab Police did not inform him about the arrest.
Bagga is also the national secretary of the Bhartiya Janta Party Yuva Morcha and was held in the case registered against him in Mohali last month. Bagga has questions regarding his safety, so the Delhi Police on Saturday said it would make necessary security arrangements for him after fears were raised about their safety.
A senior official said Bagga has expressed fear about his safety. We will make necessary security arrangements. The Delhi Police on Friday registered a case of kidnapping on the complaint of Bagga’s father Preetpal Singh Bagga. His father had alleged that some people came to his house around 8 in the morning and kidnapped his son.
Advocates YP Singh and Sanket Gupta, who appeared for Mr Bagga, also said that a medical examination of Mr Bagga revealed injuries in his back and shoulder. Mr. Bagga’s statement would be recorded before the Magistrate concerned on Monday. Mr. Bagga reached his residence in Delhi late on Friday night, nearly 20 hours after he was detained by Punjab Police from his home in the national capital.
He was produced before a magistrate late Friday night. Preetpal Bagga told that his son had returned home with his friends and supporters at around one o’clock in the night.
