Today is the 41st day of the war between Ukraine and Russia. Sitting on a pile of destruction, the situation in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, is such that artillery shells are coming out of the ground. Cluster bombs are being attacked in Mykoliv, Ukraine. Even children’s schools have been bombed. It is reported that even hospitals and orphanages have not been spared. There has also been bombing. Even today painful pictures surfaced in Bucha. There is helplessness everywhere.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky visited the war-torn areas. The city of Bucha in the middle of Kyiv was littered with corpses today. On seeing this, Zelensky got angry with Russia. Seeing the scene, the Ukrainian President accused Russia of genocide. He said that Russia should be booked for war crimes. President Volodymr Zelensky claimed that Russian forces in Ukraine committed atrocities beyond the Nazis in the 1940s. He made this claim after the Russian military allegedly left bodies in mass graves in several cities near the capital of Kyiv.
He said that at present, more than three hundred people are known to have been killed and tortured in Boocha alone. Chances are that when the entire city is investigated, the list of victims will be huge and this is just one city. The Ukrainian community in many cities that have been destroyed by the Russian army.” The painful pictures that have emerged from Bucha after the Russian army left, have shaken the whole world. Zelensky went to the cities, of Bucha and Irpin and reviewed the city that had become a cemetery.
Ukrainian authorities have asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate evidence of possible Russian war crimes there. Meanwhile, the US ambassador to the United Nations may demand Russia’s suspension from the Human Rights Council. The US State Department is supporting Russia’s efforts to document war crimes in Ukraine. An international team of prosecutors is visiting Ukraine to collect, preserve and analyze evidence that will hold Russia accountable.
Here, US President Joe Biden also accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of war crimes. Said- Putin is a war criminal, he should be held accountable. The United States and Europe are planning new sanctions to punish Russia accused of civilian killings in Ukraine. Here, war crimes will be investigated. Probably the EU will do this investigation. But in the midst of all this and despite the pressure of the world, Russia’s tanks and cannons are not stopping. Now attacks are being done with cluster weapons.
