A Red Corner Notice (RCN) has been issued by Interpol against Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, the Canada-based gangster who claimed responsibility for the killing of Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala. Sidhu Moose Wala, who had fought the recent assembly elections in Punjab on a Congress ticket, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district. Goldy Brar is currently living in Canada.
A Red Corner Notice is a request to law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending further legal action.
The Red Corner Notice proposal was sent on the basis of two cases. In the first case, the FIR was registered on November 12, 2020, and in the second case, the FIR was registered on February 18, 2021. Both cases was registered in the City Faridkot police station.
Interpol also issued a Red Corner Notice against fugitive terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu aka Rinda, who, Punjab Police say, is currently living in Pakistan and is backed by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) Wadhawa Singh and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.
As per reports, on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi, Brar claimed responsibility for the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala. Satinderjit Singh aka Goldy Brar, a Sri Muktsar Sahib native who immigrated to Canada on a student visa in 2017, is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Goldy is facing a number of serious criminal charges, including murder and extortion. He is facing a total of 16 criminal charges. In four trials, he was acquitted by the courts. Brar was active in Firozpur and Muktsar before migrating to Canada. According to the report, the Bishnoi group is now led by Goldy Brar, after Lawrance Bishnoi was detained.
The CBI said communication was received from the Bureau of Investigation, Punjab Police, through an email at 12.25 pm on May 30 with a letter dated May 19 attached in it seeking issuance of a Red Corner Notice against Brar in two FIRs registered by the Punjab Police — FIR No. 409 dated November 12, 2020, and FIR No. 44 dated February 18, 2021 — at City Police Station, Faridkot.
FIR number 409 pertains to a shootout near the Kataria petrol pump in Faridkot on November 11, 2020, in which a charge sheet was filed in November 2021, and warrants were issued in October 1, 2021, they said. The second FIR pertains to the murder of Gurlal Singh in Faridkot on February 18, 2021, in which a charge sheet was also filed in November 2021. The warrants were opened on September 13, 2021, they said.
