Ranveer Singh gave his testimony to the Mumbai Police on Monday in connection with the nude photoshoot issue. He was called in connection with a complaint filed against him for publishing naked images of himself on social media. Last month, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Singh at the Chembur police station in Mumbai on the basis of a complaint lodged by an officer of a non-governmental organization (NGO).
The police then gave him the summons to join the investigation. According to the official, the actor went before the investigating officer at about 7 a.m. on Monday and his testimony was recorded. Singh left the police station at about 9.30 a.m., according to the officer, who added that the actor will be called again if necessary.
The actor “hurt the sensibilities of women in general and offended their modesty with his images,” according to the complainant.
According to an official, the police had registered an FIR against Singh based on the complaint under various Indian Penal Code Sections such as 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
On July 21, photographs from Ranveer’s photo session for Paper Magazine were released online. The actor is shown in the photos wearing nothing. In one of the photos, he is naked on a mat, reenacting Burt Reynolds’ iconic shot. Ranveer sat and posed on a Turkish mat in another.
