In Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, there was a big catastrophe on Tuesday. Eight devotees died on the spot and 10 were injured when a pickup packed with devotees overturned in Gudhagaudji police station area of Jhunjhunu district. The accident happened on Tuesday at around quarter to three in the afternoon near Gudhagaudji on State Highway No. 37. The devotees in the pickup were returning from Lohargal. Accident happened at this time. All the deceased who were victims of the accident are said to be residents of Tan Khetri, the Dhani of Ahirs.
As soon as the information about such a big accident was received, there was a stir in the police-administration. Gudhagaudji police station reached the spot and handled the situation and with the help of villagers immediately sent the injured to BDK Hospital in Jhunjhunu. At the same time, District Collector Laxman Singh Kudi and Additional Superintendent of Police Tejpal Singh also reached the spot immediately. In view of the large number of injured in the accident, the district hospital was alerted.
In BDK hospital, CMHO Dr. Chhotelal Gurjar took over the command and immediately started the treatment of the injured. At the same time, other officers of the police and administration also reached the hospital and got involved in the arrangements. Due to the critical condition of four of the injured, they were immediately referred to Jaipur after giving them first aid. The referred injured include Rahul, Savitri, Vimla and Usha.
Preliminary information has revealed that the victims of the accident are from the same village and from the same clan. All of them had gone to the famous pilgrimage site of Shekhawati in the morning to take a bath in Lohargal. The pickup was overloaded with devotees. On the way back, a truck full of gravel was standing on the side of the road near Gudhagaudji. Due to this the pickup driver became uncomfortable and he lost control of the vehicle. Due to this the overloaded pickup overturned uncontrollably and nine people lost their lives and the same number of people were seriously injured.
