The actor has not only played the titular role in the biographical drama but has also directed, produced, and written the film. Based on former ISRO scientist and aerospace engineer Nambi Narayan, the flick will release in theatres on July 1, 2022. But, is it R Madhavan aka Maddy’s last directorial?
In a recent interview, the actor-turned-director hinted that this could be his last directorial venture. The Tanu Weds Manu actor finds the process of filmmaker “exhausting” and feels that he doesn’t have the expertise to make films in different genres. “I’m no Mani Ratnam…” he said. Madhavan, who has written, directed, and has also acted in Rocketry, added that his wife Sarita, too, wants him to focus on acting.
In the film, Madhavan plays the role of Nambi Narayanan, a former Indian Space Research Organization scientist and aerospace engineer, known for developing efficient liquid fuel engines. With the film due for release in cinemas on July 1, Madhavan was busy with the promotions. On Wednesday, he was in Chennai to meet the press, and talk about the movie, which will be released in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, apart from Hindi and English.
The trailer has been receiving astounding responses across the globe, it has reportedly received a standing ovation at the Cannes film festival 2022. R Madhavan who did a perfect job as an actor and director confessed that he wouldn’t be directing in the future and Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is his first and last film as a director.
