According to reports, Rana Jung Bahadur has been arrested in the controversial remarks case on Lord Valmiki. Punjabi actor Rana Jung Bahadur has been arrested by the police for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of the Valmiki community. The actor was arrested after he made objectionable remarks about Lord Valmiki.
There have been several protests against Rana Jang Bahadur in various parts of Punjab, including Jalandhar. As per the report, Jalandhar police has registered a case against the actor. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Punjabi film actor’s application for anticipatory bail has been rejected.
In this case, a few days ago, representatives of the Valmiki community, led by Akali Dal leader Chandan Grewal, met Police Commissioner Gursharan Singh Sandhu and demanded the arrest of Rana Jung Bahadur. Valmiki organizations had warned to close Jalandhar on July 11 if the actor was not arrested by July 10.
It may be recalled that after hearing the news at Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk in the city last month, the people of the Valmiki community staged a dharna against Rana Jung Bahadur. People of the Valmiki community were demanding the police to register a case against the actor. They also burnt the effigy of Rana Jung Bahadur near the bus stand in Jalandhar. A similar protest was staged in Hoshiarpur.
Meanwhile, Jalandhar police had registered a case against Rana. Members of the Valmiki community alleged that Punjabi actor Rana Jung Bahadur had insulted Lord Valmiki on a TV channel.
Speaking of the work front, Rana Jung Bahadur appeared in the film Posti. The film was released in theaters on June 17. Apart from Bubble Rai, the film also stars Bollywood actors Zareen Khan, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Surili Gautam, and Raghbir Boli.
Although Rana Jung Bahadur had allegedly apologized for his remarks, the Valmiki organization was adamant in demanding his arrest. Regarding this, he had met the Commissioner of Police. After this, the police have now arrested Rana.
