Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media act of consoling a distraught Indian wrestler after she was unable to earn gold at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games left social media fans pleased.
The act moved many people, including a Pakistani journalist who asked Pakistani officials whether they knew their athletes were winning gold.
The Pakistani journalist published a tweet from PM Modi in which the prime minister consoled Pooja Gehlot, stating, “Pooja, your medal ought to be celebrated, not apologized for.” Your life path inspires us, and your achievement brings us joy. You are destined for big things in the future, so keep shining!”
Touched by this, the journalist commented, “This is how India presents their athletes.” Pooja Gehlot earned bronze and expressed her disappointment at not being able to win the gold medal, to which PM Modi reacted. Have you ever seen a message like this from Pakistan’s Prime Minister or President? “Are our leaders even aware that athletes are earning medals?”

Pooja Gehlot began her Commonwealth Games campaign with a TSU victory over Scotland’s Christelle Lemofack Letchidjio in the women’s 50 kg. However, she was defeated 6-9 by Canada’s Madison Bianca Parks in the quarterfinals. Later, she defeated the Scottish player 12-2 in the bronze play-off.
Pooja, your medal calls for celebrations, not an apology. Your life journey motivates us, your success gladdens us. You are destined for great things ahead…keep shining! ⭐️ https://t.co/qQ4pldn1Ff

Later, a tearful Gehlot told reporters that she desperately wanted the Indian national song to be played after her triumph, but she could only manage bronze.
PM Modi sent a touching letter to CWG 2022 bronze medalist Pooja Gehlot, who was sad after failing to win the gold medal.
