Every youngster learns at school that the lion is the ruler of the forest. The stately animal with a magnificent mane is known as the ‘king,’ and there are countless videos on the internet that demonstrate their king-like behavior. However, we have a clip that will offer you a new definition of what it means to be a king, and it contains a great tusker.
The video, shared on Twitter by IFS officer Susanta Nanda, shows an elephant being mauled by a pride of lionesses. As the video progresses, the lionesses can be seen taking turns jumping on the elephant’s back to bring it down. The courageous jumbo, on the other hand, refuses to give up and continues to lead the creatures within the water body.

After much fighting, the elephant manages to release itself from the lionesses’ lethal grasp and wades far away into the water body, secure from the pride.
“A lone tusker defeats 14 lionesses.” Who better to be than the king of the forest?” reads the caption. There is a famous saying in urdu which suites well here,’ Himmat-e- marda, Maddad-e- Khuda’. What would you like to say?
