Yet another milestone and a super-proud moment for Farhan Akhtar! The multi-talented actor-producer will be a part of the Disney+ Hotstar series Ms Marvel. Elated Shibani Dandekar was the first one to confirm the news, followed by her husband, Farhan on social media. Farhan Akhtar is appearing in a guest role in the MCU web series Ms Marvel.
After months of rumours and speculation, actor Farhan Akhtar’s participation in the upcoming web series Ms Marvel has been confirmed. The confirmation, however, did not come through on official announcement but in the form of an appreciation post from Farhan’s wife Shibani Dandekar.
Ms Marvel is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is based on Kamala Khan, Marvel’s first teen Muslim superhero, who is a fan of the Avengers and later struggles with her own life as a superhero after she discovers she has superpowers too. The show’s trailer was released in March and many fans were disappointed not to catch a glimpse of either Farhan or Fawad, a Pakistani actor in it. The details about his character are under the wraps for now. While the report did not include a comment from Farhan or the production, the news was seemingly confirmed when Shibani shared a screengrab of it on her Instagram. Rumors about Farhan being in the show have done the rounds for months now.
Created by Bisha K. Ali, the series also stars Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Laurel Marsden, Adaku Ononogbo, Laith Nakli, Travina Springer, and Aramis Knight. Ali is also the head writer, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (who, incidentally, are also directing Batgirl for rival DC) performing directing duties on some episodes.
Kamala is a teenage Pakistani-American from Jersey City, New Jersey. She took up the title of Ms Marvel after Carol Danvers, her idol, became Captain Marvel. The Kamala Khan iteration of Ms Marvel is a relative newcomer in the world. The character debuted in a 2015 comic series by G Willow Wilson (writer) and Adrian Alphona (artist). She was the first Muslim Marvel superhero to have her own comic series. Not only is Ms Marvel an exciting character, but she will also be MCU’s first teenage superhero after Peter Parker or Spider-Man, and will bring with her own perspective and sensibilities due to her background.
Good is not a thing you are, it’s a thing you do.
