A police constable from Rewa was seen brutally thrashing an elderly man at the Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh on Friday. The almost 30-second long video of the incident, which has been doing the rounds on social media, showed the constable kicking the elderly man in his face.
The constable then grabbed the man by his feet, pulled him, and was on the verge of throwing him on the railway track. The video of the incident, recorded by one of the passengers inside a stationary train, also showed the constable repeatedly kicking the elderly man’s left hand.
The issue came to light after a video of the policeman beating an old man mercilessly and dragging him went viral on social media. The police constable was identified as Anant Sharma and the name of the victim is Gopal Prasad.
People stop and stare in shock at what is occurring, but no one steps in to stop the cop from beating the man. The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday. After the video went viral, vendors present at the railway station were questioned and they confirmed the incident of brutality.
Many people shared the video on social media including Twitter and Facebook and criticized the actions of the police constable.
According to the statement given by the victim Gopal Prasad to the police, he said that some people were abusing him at the railway station, and when he complained of the same to the policeman present there, he attacked him. He said he doesn’t know the policeman and had no idea why would he attack an old man like him.
