A major fire broke out in a building near Mundka metro station in west Delhi today. One woman died and at least 3 are injured after a massive fire broke out in a building near pillar number 544, Mundka metro station on Friday. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS), which pressed 24 fire tenders to service, has recovered the body of a woman from the spot. DFS chief Atul Garf said, “It’s a massive fire. Cranes are being used to go up and douse the fire.”
The fire department officials received information about the blaze at 4.40 pm. According to the fire department officials, the blaze broke out in a building near pillar number 544, Mundka metro station. The Mundka metro station falls on the Green Line of the Delhi Metro.
“The deceased woman is yet to be identified. Rescue operation on. Police force deployed with the area being cordoned off,” said Sharma. Police officials broke the windows of the building and rescued the inmates. The injured were admitted to the hospital intact. He also added that the fire broke on two floors and till now, about 50-60 people have been rescued. The flames erupted in a three-story commercial building that provides office space for companies, the police said. “The fire initiated from the first floor of the building which is an office of CCTV cameras and router manufacturing company,” states Delhi police. The owner of the company is in police custody, they added. The fire brigades are present at the spot and are trying to douse the flames, the police said. An ambulance facility is also available on the spot.
