The new Army Chief of India will be Lt Gen Manoj Pandey. Manoj Pandey (LtGenManojPande) has been elected in place of Manoj Naravane. He is the first engineer to become the Chief of Army Staff. Lt Gen Manoj Pandey will be the next Chief of Army Staff. He is the first engineering officer to reach this position. Manoj Pandey, a graduate of the National Defense Academy, joined the Corps of Engineers in 1982.
Lt Gen Manoj Pandey will replace Army Chief MM Naravane. Lt Gen Manoj Pandey is the second senior-most officer in the Army after MM Naravane. Lt Gen Manoj Pandey is the senior-most officer in the Army after General MM Naravane. So at the same time, General MM Naravane is being considered the frontrunner for the post of Chief of Defense Staff (CDS). Lt Gen Manoj Pandey will take over as the 29th Chief of the Army Staff on May 1. Because at present the 28-month tenure of Army Chief MM Naravane is ending on April 30.

Military career of Manoj Pandey:
In his military career spanning 39 years, Lt Gen Manoj Pandey has commanded the Engineer Brigade in the Western Theater, the Infantry Brigade along the Line of Control, the Mountain Division in the Ladakh Sector, and the Northeast Corps. Before assuming the Eastern Command, he was the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command.In December 1982, Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers). Lt Gen Manoj Pandey, an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, took over as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff on 1 February 2022 from Lt.General MOhanty, who retired on 31 January.
Not only this, during Operation Parakram, he led an engineer regiment in the sensitive Palianwala sector along the Line of Control (LoC) of Jammu and Kashmir. Talking about Manoj Pandey’s education, he graduated from Staff College, Camberley (United Kingdom) and also attended Higher Command (HC) and National Defense College (NDC) courses.
Key role in Operation Parakram:
After the terrorist attacks on Parliament in December 2001, a large number of weapons and troops were deployed along the western border as part of Operation Power. There was a state of war between India and Pakistan at the time of this incident. Lt Gen Manoj Pandey leads the Engineer Regiment along the Line of Control during Operation Parakram in Jammu and Kashmir. In addition, he has commanded an engineer brigade in the western sector, an infantry brigade along the Line of Control, a hill division in the highlands of western Ladakh and a corps in the north-east.
