Petrol and diesel prices were stable throughout metro areas on September 1, but commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder prices were cut, according to the most recent price notice given by fuel merchants.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced by Rs 91.50 as of today. A 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder would now cost Rs 1,885, rather than Rs 1,976 in Delhi.
For more than a month, fuel costs have remained steady. In Delhi, a liter of petrol costs Rs 96.72, and a liter of diesel costs Rs 89.62. In Chennai, petrol and diesel cost Rs 102.63 and Rs 94.24, respectively, while in Kolkata, they cost Rs 106.03 and Rs 92.76. In Mumbai, a liter of petrol costs Rs 106.31, and a liter of diesel costs Rs 94.27.
Despite rising international oil costs, state-owned fuel retailers Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) have not raised petrol and diesel rates in over five months.
International oil price stability has enabled Indian gasoline merchants to break even on petrol and domestic cooking gas LPG, but they continue to lose money on diesel, the country’s most popular fuel.
