A major accident took place in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday. More than 16 people are reported to have died in the accident when a private bus fell into a deep gorge in Sainj valley of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu early on Monday morning. School children were also among the dead. Many people have also been seriously injured. Police and administration officials reached the spot as soon as the information is received. The rescue operation has been started with the help of nearby people.
According to the information, this major accident happened in Shainshar in the Kullu district. School children and others were traveling in a private bus. It is being told that about 40 people were on the bus at the time of the incident. The bus had reached near Jangla village when suddenly it fell uncontrollably and fell into a deep gorge about 200 meters below.
Kullu Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg said the bus, headed to Sainj, fell into the gorge near Jangla village around 8.30 am. District officials and rescue teams have reached the spot, he said, adding that the injured were being rushed to a nearby hospital.
The bus was going from Shanshar to Aut. So far 16 bodies have been recovered. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
