Every girl thinks of her prince charming riding on a white horse, coming to marry her. But exceptions are always there, She thinks of marrying her own self! She is a girl but unlike other girls, she didn’t think of her prince charming. She decided to go off the league. She knows that marriage is a sacred ritual. She will even apply vermilion. But there will be neither the groom nor the procession in the marriage. This love can be quoted as a little selfish! This means to say that for her this marriage is for ‘self-love’. Not for any family union or mutual co-relation between two families.
She is Kshama Bindu, 24 years old hailing from Vadodara, Gujarat who is going to tie the knot with herself! All set for the D- day on June 11th, 2022, it’s a solo affair from the word go. It may seem incredulous but right from the “pheras” to all the traditional rituals will be done including the most sacred wearing of vermilion sans GROOM!
This is probably one of its kind, san groom, san Baraat, sans big fat wedding! Gujarat is the first to have this sologamy. “I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself.” states the 24-year-old. Kshama has written five vows for her wedding to be solemnized at a temple in Gotri.
After doing online research to find out if any women have done sologamy in the country but failed to find any. She says probably she is the first one to set the trend of self-love in our country!”
She wants to let the world know that women matter to themselves, they can love themselves, rather than others. After the marriage, she also has plans for a two weeks honeymoon in Goa. Her parents are also happy with their daughter’s decision.
Kshama works in a private firm and her views are, “Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and decided to marry me.”
