Actor Chiyaan Vikram suffered a heart attack today, July 8, and has been rushed to Kauvery hospital in Chennai. He is 56-year-old. The hospital is yet to share an update regarding his health. He was supposed to attend the teaser launch of his upcoming film, Ponniyin Selvan, which is scheduled to happen at 6 pm in Chennai today. He is reported to have been shifted to a normal ward and is expected to be discharged later today.
On the professional update, his films Cobra and Ponniyin Selvan, are slated for release in 2022. Vikram is also known as Chiyaan Vikram and by his real name Kennedy John Victor (Kenny). He has acted in Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi movies. He has also received a national award, seven Filmfare Awards, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and the Kalaimamani Award of the Tamil Nadu Government in 2004.
His upcoming film Cobra is slated to hit the big screens on August 11. It is helmed by Imaikkaa Nodigal fame director Ajay Gnanamuthu. The cast also includes former Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan, Srinidhi Shetty, Mirnalini Ravi, KS Ravikumar, and Miya George, among others. Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1, which features an ensemble cast of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sarath Kumar, and Trisha, is set to release on September 30.
Actor Vikram started acting in 1990 but he shot to fame after his role in the movie Sethu in December 1999. For the movie, Vikram lost 20 kilograms and shaved his head for the movie. After Sethu, he gave several hit movies including Gemini, Samurai, Dhool, Kadhal Sadugudu, Saamy, Pithamagan, Arul, Anniyan, Bheema, Raavanan, Deiva Thirumagal, David, Iru Mugan, and Mahaan.
One of his career-best performances was Pithamagan in 2003 which bagged him a National Film Award For Best Actor. His role in Anniyan’s movie as Anniyan, Remo, and Ambi continues to remain in the mind of the audience. He also starred opposite Aishwarya Rai in the Tamil version of Raavanan.
In his release in 2022, Vikram acted along with his son Dhruv Vikram in the movie Mahaan. Vikram also served as Youth Envoy for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in 2011. He is the brand ambassador of Sanjeevani Trust and Vidya Sudha.
