Earlier, there were reports of hacking of Twitter accounts of the Indian Meteorological Department and University Grants Commission, and India Meteorological Department. The hackers had posted a lengthy thread from the account of UGC, in which several people were tagged.
On Saturday, CM Yogi’s account was restored shortly after it was hacked. According to an official statement issued by the government, “An attempt was made to hack the official Twitter account of the Chief Minister’s Office on 9 April 12.30 am by anti-social elements, who had posted some tweets and they were later recovered.” A case was registered against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the IT Act at the Cyber Police Station in Lucknow. The matter will be investigated by a team of experts from the DGP office. At the same time, the UP government said that strict action would be taken against the accused.
