Gyanvapi Masjid Committee has reached the Supreme Court. The committee has filed an application in the Supreme Court against the survey. After which the Supreme Court has given time for hearing on Tuesday. The Supreme Court will hear this petition tomorrow at 1 pm. A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha will look into the matter. Actually, the Muslim side has filed this petition after refusing to stay the High Court’s survey. Whereas earlier today the work of Gyanvapi Masjid survey was completed today. After the end of this survey, the Hindu side made a big claim. Said that- ‘Shivling has been found in the middle of Wazukhana in Gyanvapi Masjid and he is very happy about it. He said that Baba has been found.’
Here, the Muslim side is telling the claim a breeze. He has denied this claim. So now different claims are coming out about whether Shivling was found or not. In the midst of all this, while Varanasi is in discussion about Gyanvapi Masjid and Maa Shringar Gauri’s survey, on the other hand, there is a ruckus about her name as well. Amidst the uproar over the action of the Court Commission and then the hearing in the court, now the voice has started rising about the name of the mosque.
Acharya Ashok Dwivedi, former chairman of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, says that the disputed site located in the Gyanvapi area is not the Gyanvapi Masjid, but the Alamgir Masjid, which was built by Aurangzeb and named after him as the Alamgir Masjid. Acharya Ashok Dwivedi told that Gyanvapi is the ‘pilgrimage place of Hindus’, which we know by the name Gyanvapi well or Gyanodak. It is wrong to add the name of the mosque to the name of our pilgrimage. He also appealed to the people, saying that they too should not associate this mosque with the name of Gyanvapi. Gyanvapi Tirtha and Alamgir Masjid are two different places.
According to Acharya Ashok Dwivedi, “In the 1980s, people knew it by the name of Alamgir Masjid, after that gradually in colloquial language that mosque came to be known as Gyanvapi and now people call that Alamgir Masjid as Gyanvapi Masjid. Which is completely wrong”. According to the Hindu side, Gyanvapi is the shrine where even today Baba Vishwanath is seated in the form of a substance. Lord Shankar had built this well with his trident before Ganga descended on earth. After which he had given knowledge to Mother Parvati at this place, which was the reason why it got its name Gyanvapi.
