On Monday, police lathi-charged hundreds of teachers’ job applicants protesting the delay in their recruitment in Bihar’s capital Patna. A protest video has gone viral, showing a bureaucrat pounding a demonstrator on the ground.
The demonstration was taking place in Patna’s Dak Bangla Chauraha. The footage shows the bureaucrat, named as Patna’s Additional District Magistrate KK Singh, pulling and beating the guy as he is laying on the ground and carrying the National Flag. The cops later confiscate the flag.
A significant number of police officers were on the scene, and they used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. Protesters demanding the release of primary teacher recruitment notifications included CTET and BTET, pass applicants.
The candidates who are protesting stated that they have been waiting for the recruitment since 2019. According to the protests, the administration has only provided assurances for the previous three years.
According to one of the demonstrators, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav used to state that the process of recruitment will begin in the first cabinet before the formation of the administration. But thus far, nothing has happened.
Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, took note of the video and called the Patna District Magistrate. The DM has formed an inquiry committee led by the Patna Central SP and DDC.
Meanwhile, the BJP has condemned the event and the newly formed JD(U)-RJD coalition.
