In a heart-rending news, Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK breathed his last in Kolkatta on Tuesday after performing. The whole music industry and film industry is in a state of shock, KK was just 53 when he bid adieu to this world! His last performance was at the Nazrul Mancha for Gurudas College’s fest where he reportedly felt uneasy and returned to the hotel. His condition deteriorated while in the hotel and was rushed to hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’.
Hours after the news of the shocking death of famous singer KK after a concert in Kolkata, a video has surfaced in which he looks unwell and has been escorted out of the venue. He reportedly experienced chest pain and died on the way to the hospital. According to the video and eyewitness statements- questions have been raised on the arrangements made at the venue, where the air-condition was reportedly not working and the heat was scorching.
Iconic KK started his Bollywood career with Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Ajay Devgn-starrer Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He gained accolades for his heartbreaking yet soulful voice in the hit track Tadap Tadap and never looked back. The man with the golden voice will be remembered for his songs like ‘Pyaar Ke Pal’, ‘Yaaron’, ‘O Meri Jaan’, ‘Khuda Jaane’, ‘Zara sa’, ‘Dil Ibaadat’, love anthem ‘Pehla Pela Pyaar’, ‘Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana’ among others.
KK was a legendary singer born on August 23, 1968. Being a versatile singer KK sang in many languages, he recorded songs in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali to name a few. His first album ‘Pal’ was released in 1999 and became a timeless hit. He soon sang for several films and delivered various chartbusters. KK’s songs always remain in favourite playlists of the music lovers!
KK has been a fan favourite for many years and his place in the music industry was well cemented. The eminent singer had a fan following across generations. His industry colleagues as well as numerous heartbroken fans have offered condolences to the soulful singer who made people believe in love and friendship with his tracks.
KK married his childhood sweetheart Jyothy in 1991. He had once shared how his wife helped him overcome a difficult phase in life. He had also said that she played an important part in his career and made him shift base from Delhi to Mumbai in 1994. He is now survived by his wife Jyothy, and their two children, son Nakul Krishna Kunnath and daughter Tamara Kunnath. West Bengal Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Arup Biswas told media persons that the body has been sent for post-mortem.”His family members have been informed. They are likely to reach Kolkata on Wednesday morning,” Biswas said.

The autopsy of KK will be conducted on Wednesday to ascertain the exact reason for his death. Doctors suspect cardiac arrest to be the cause of his death.
