India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2022, with Hardik Pandya clobbering spinner Mohammad Nawaz for a maximum to seal the victory with two balls to spare. While the victory prompted excitement among Indian supporters throughout the world, one fact sparked the curiosity of many.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah, is the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and he appears to have declined to wave the Tricolour during the India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup 2022 match. Many politicians raised concerns when the video went viral on social media.
Following Pandya’s winning stroke, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah was spotted refusing to carry the Indian national flag, which drew much criticism. After the game, one of Shah’s fellow spectators was seen handing him the Indian flag to celebrate the victory, which he graciously declined.
While the Twitterati and politicians chastised Shah for not raising the Tricolor, it has been revealed that Shah had to follow the norms of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) because he is the current ACC President. “Because he is the Asian Cricket Council’s president.” And, according to the rule of conduct, he must maintain impartiality in dealing with all stakeholders,” the tweet stated.
Meanwhile, following India’s victory, skipper Rohit Sharma praised the players for their efforts. “We still believed halfway through the innings,” he remarked in the post-match presentation. “That’s the sort of belief we want in this bunch, where you’re not in the game but still pull it off.” We want to make certain that everyone understands what to do in the middle. I prefer one-sided victories like these.
“The fast bowlers have done really well in the previous year or so.” We were tested at times, but conquering those tests will propel us ahead. Hardik has been outstanding since his return to this club. I also had a fantastic IPL. His batting abilities are well known; he has been outstanding with the bat since joining the squad,” Rohit remarked.
