Eight people were killed in a late-night fire at Bogtui village in Rampurhat, Birbhum on Monday. The Incident took place a couple of hours after a Trinamool congress panchayat deputy head was killed by few bike-borne miscreants.
A special investigation team is formed by the state government which is led by the CID additional director general of police Mr.Gyanwant Singh and shunted out Rampurhat sub-divisional police officer Sayan Ahmad and Rampurhat police inspector-in-charge Tridip Pramanik, leading to the arrest of eleven persons till Tuesday evening. State director general of police Mr.Manoj Malviya has left for the spot which is 225 km from Kolkata
As per reports, the center has asked for a report from the state government about the incident. The Centre has also sent a separate probe team headed by a joint secretary-level officer in the Union home ministry.
The political game is sparked by the eight deaths the highest in the incident reported in Bengal, igniting the political blame game. Mamta Banerjee strongly opposed to the statement given by Jagdeep Dhankar that Bengal is in the grip of the culture of violence and lawlessness.
Mamta Banerjee asked Dhankar to stop giving such unwarranted statements and allow impartial investigation and exemplary punishment for the guilty. Banerjee even added that the political conspiracy to malign the state will not be ruled out.
DGP Malviya states that all the murder angles are probed. Malviya said,” It can be retaliation but there is no political connection to this murder. Personal enmity could not be ruled out.” Malviya further stated that the situation is under control even after what took after the murder, his main focus is on the origin of the fire. Special Investigation Team[SIT] has been set by the state government to investigate the matter. Burdan range inspector- general Bharat Lal Meena and CID deputy inspector -general[operations] Meeraj Khalid are included in SIT.
As witnessed by Trinamool worker Lallan Sheikh a gang of 10-12 miscreants came on bikes, hurdled bombs at Barshal gram panchayat deputy head, Bhadu Seikh who was busy on his mobile while sitting on his scooter.
As stated by Lalan Sheikh, he was sitting 10-12 meters away when the hit job was done. The assailant fled immediately after the shooting. He even accused Chota Lalan and Palash Sheikh for accepting Bhadu’s rise in local politics. Bhadu hailed from Bogtui Pashchimpara and his assailants from Bogtui Purbapara as stated by Lalan. Villagers revealed that Bhadu’s brother was also killed a year ago. Lalan added that they were threatened by Palash and his associates two days ago.
